Description
N/A
The candidate will be required to gain and deploy expertise in the field of tank modelling in support of a number of aircraft projects, particularly A400M and A350. An understanding of aircraft fuel tank geometries and volume analysis would be a distinct advantage.
The design of an aircraft wing requires a detailed and accurate prediction of the volumes of fuel and air space within the fuel tanks.
This role requires the jobholder to perform various fuel tank analyses, including usable fuel predictions. The job requires the use of a suite of tank modelling programs written in FORTRAN running under both Unix/Linux and Windows 2000 environments.
The jobholder will be required to:
•Generate detailed Fuel Tank Models from imported CAD data and identify any problems associated with incomplete/incorrect data.
•Understand the functioning of the suite of tank modelling tools.
•Achieve project-determined deliverables by the application of specialist analysis tools and processes.
•Follow Airbus procedures to maintain full traceability of tank modelling deliverables.
•Interface with other disciplines within Airbus such as Structures, Weights, Loads, Systems Installation, Aeroelastics etc
•Support Fuel System Design engineers in determining unusable and ullage volumes, fuel centre of gravity etc.
•Provide data to the Avionics Rigs and Flight Simulator Departments.
•Provide reactive support to Customer Services as and when required often in AOG situations.
•Deliver technical reports to be used by the aircraft project.
Role Description:
The jobholder would be a member of the Tank Modelling Team in the Fuel Systems Control & HMI Department. Their functional line manager will be the Engineering Group Leader for Gauging and Electronics. Their project line manager will be Tank Modelling Lead Engineer. The jobholder will often be required to work as the representative of the group when working on a particular project. Some tasks will be carried out as part of a team. The job holder will be responsible for running tank modelling programs to generate the outputs required by other modelling tools, test rigs, design reviews.
