Fuel Systems Safety Engineer
Profile:
The role includes responsibility for review and approval of safety and reliability analyses carried out by the group members, and it is expected that the job holder will obtain signatory responsibility within the first year in the role.

Profile:
The role includes responsibility for review and approval of safety and reliability analyses carried out by the group members, and it is expected that the job holder will obtain signatory responsibility within the first year in the role.
Specifically, this role includes the following responsibilities -
Plan, carry out and lead a small team, carry out Fuel System Safety Analysis using recognised processes and Industry techniques to meet the Airworthiness Authorities certification requirement
Contribute to aircraft level safety activities
Plan and carry out Fuel System Safety Analysis using recognised processes and Industry techniques to meet the Airworthiness Authorities certification requirements
Review and approve safety and reliability analyses and ensure they are documented and managed appropriately under department documentation configuration control
Liase with design teams and present the Safety cases in support of the developing design.
Participate in design reviews
Contribute to the safety processes and procedures to identify best practices and ensure they are implemented across the business
Represent the company at Safety conferences and participate on relevant committees.
Skills and Experience
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, and can demonstrate understanding of the Safety & Reliability process at system and equipment level
Proven experience in safety and reliability
System definition to safety requirements: -
Functional Hazard Assessment
System Safety Assessment
Failure modes and effects
Particular risks
Computer literacy
Ability to work within a changing environment
Ability to work as part of a team
Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving
Experience of producing technical reports
Additional Desirable Qualifications and Skills:
Familiarity with systems engineering processes
Familiarity with fuel system development, preferably within an aerospace context
Airworthiness Regulations (specifically JAR 25)
Experience with computer based analysis tools, i.e. Fault Tree +.
General Experience:
Breadth
Broad knowledge of safety processes
Experience in safety and reliability assessments in an aerospace field
Depth
Proven experience in related field
