Fleet Superintendent Required for providing engineering expertise to a variety of marine engineering duties.

PURPOSE
The Fleet Superintendent Engineer is to provide engineering expertise and project management skills to the Project Manager providing timely guidance and recommendation of solutions to technical matters, including modifications to vessels to achieve best practice of operational and manning solutions. To provide engineering and technical support to all areas of operation both in UK and in other parts of the Group as required. To ensure that the Projects Manager is informed in a timely manner of all significant operational issues that impacts availability and technical readiness of the fleet in support of our service commitment.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
1. The fleet superintendent shall ensure that all projects are conducted according to budget, schedule and specification.
2. Control project work budgets within approvals whilst coordinating work on behalf of any port within regional budgets.
3. Ensure the contractor adheres to the Terms & Conditions and specification in all matters.
4. Supply timely input in conjunction with Project Manager and Superintendent Engineer for the pre-survey, preparation, monitoring and control of repair specifications and budgets for the fleet, including records of spare part, fuel and lub. oil requirements.
5. The management, planning and coordination of maintenance, regular service periods, dry-docks and upgrades through the designated service contractors / vessel crew as appropriate. The development and use of planned maintenance and purchase systems via group computerised maintenance management and purchase systems.
6. Co-ordination and control of the supply of equipment, spares and Insurance spares via the Group Electronic Purchasing System (ePOS) in conjunction with vessels and the Regional Purchasing Manager using Group preferred agreements.
7. Coordination of surveys, inspections and certification ensuring that the vessels are completed in accordance with local, national, flag and classification society requirements.
8. Plan, supervise and manage dry-docking, vessel upgrades and other major repair or upgrade periods at designated repair facilities, ensuring timely, prompt return to the fleet of vessels under repair. Ensuring that the procedures are adhered to at all times.
9. Input to the preparation of vessel specifications and appraisal of new tonnage requirements.
10. The promotion of safety and safe working practices as an operational priority, ensuring that adequate safety equipment is available with PPE worn in accordance with company operations manual.
11. In the event of damage to a vessel to prepare in conjunction with the Port Superintendent all necessary Hull and Machinery claim reports and claims documentation.
12. Shall collate and coordinate all reports from the project and report accordingly to the Projects Manager. Ensuring early warning of cost, schedule or quality slippage is notified.
13. The development of port based engineering expertise among selected vessel crew capable of accepting delegated responsibility for local engineering planning and maintenance.
14. To implement and continue a programme of training of vessel crew to meet required operational, technical and safety standards.
15. Assume responsibility with the pre-commissioning and commissioning of the equipment and facilities on board the vessel.
16. Undertake and perform such other duties including local superintendancy as may be required from time to time to ensure the operational efficiency of the business.

LEARNING DESCRIPTION
Knowledge and Qualifications
> Business Expertise:
A thorough and demonstrable understanding of how the engineering and technical support impacts on the service commitment and a good understanding of customers and their requirements. Understanding, meeting and managing of technical, project and repair budgets.
> Qualifications:
With at least 5 years thorough experience in Marine Engineering
A minimum of and HNC/D in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture or 1st Class FG Motor Certificate.
