Description
Our client, the UK's leading online Bingo developer/operator, is looking to recruit a Software Developer for the on-going development of Flash Action Script 3 framework. Candidates must have prior knowledge and in depth experience of source control, OO programming and XML together with at least a basic knowledge of OO design patterns and HTTP communication protocol. This would suit a proven Flash and Action Script 2/3 developer or a Java developer who wishes to move towards a Flash/AS3 role.

The first task for any new recruit will be familiarisation with the products complex infrastructure, comprising of many hundreds of classes. Work will be assigned via functional specification documentation and UML diagrams (depending on the tasks complexity). Peer reviews of code are performed before releasing it to the test department and subsequent bug fixing cycles.
Current projects include large scale enhancement to the Bingo product, development of new games and the modification of the look and feel of the core product to harmonise with the corporate style of a variety of new customers.

Main duties and responsibilities
- Technical specification, design and development of new software components
- Keeping current with new technologies
- Maintaining and enhancing existing product code
- Working with members of the QA and delivery teams to ensure products are tested, installed and maintained to a high standard
- Maintain high quality coding standards
Mandatory skills and experience
- Prior knowledge and in-depth experience of source control and OO programming, including at least a basic knowledge of OO design patterns
- Extensive use of XML
- At least a basic understanding of HTTP communication protocol
- In addition to the above skills candidates must match be a proven Flash and Action Script 2/3 developer or a Java developer, who wishes to move towards a Flash/AS3 role
Highly desirable skills and experience
- A good honours degree from a well-regarded university supported by an excellent secondary education. The degree subject should be Software Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or Maths

- Use of Eclipse IDE (or similar)
- Use of source control (e.g. CVS)
- Any Games/Gaming experience
- Embedded Video Streams
- Apache Ant skills
- Use of diagnostic web development tools
