Our client is a national service provider, delivering major infrastructure programmes in the utilities, rail and renewable energy market. They are currently looking to recruit an Estimator (Utilities) to join the team in Elstree. The role might involve the occasional travel to Glasgow and Belfast, locations where this position could also be based.
Estimator (Utilities)
Elstree, Hertfordshire (positions also available in Glasgow or Belfast)
£40,000 - £50,000 + Company Car or Car Allowance and Benefits
The Estimator (Utilities) will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of competitive tender bids, which achieve a consistent and high standard, and will use and seek to continually improve the Tender/Estimating systems and procedures to actively support the achievement of business objectives.
Applicants will require previous experience as an Estimator, ideally within Utilities. You will need the capability to price extensive schedules of rates regarding utility installation within public highways (so youll need an understanding of no dig techniques and relevant cable/pipes/fittings and jointing techniques).
The Estimator (Utilities) will need to be able to build up suitable estimate spreadsheets, and will be able to price from first principles. Youll also be:
- Commercially aware with proven Estimation experience, or alternatively a strong QS background
- Strongly analytical
- Familiar with MS Office applications, estimating software/systems and presentation techniques
- An excellent communicator
- A good builder of strong client relationships
- Able to plan the approaches of themselves and others effectively, even against deadlines
- Able to drive, with a valid UK driving licence
