Job/Role Purpose
To provide environmental support services to internal and external customers, to support the strategic imperatives of the Company
The candidate will need to be familiar with UK waste policy and legislation for Controlled Waste and/or Radioactive Waste.
They will need to have experience gained in the UK waste industry, nuclear industry or from regulating these industries.
Ideally they would also have experience of the waste management Duty of Care process, although this is not essential
Key Skills:
Knowledge of UK environmental legislation, standards and guidelines
Knowledge of RSA 93 would be an advantage.
Knowledge of the requirements of ISO 14001
Knowledge of environmental assessment techniques including BPM, BPEO, Environmental Risk Assessment is essential.
Key Accountabilities
Maintain and develop the Company Environmental Management System (EMS)
Provision of specialist support to Acceptance and Peer Review
Provision of specialist support in Environmental Risk Assessment, including Best Practicable Means (BPM) and Best Practicable Environment Option (BPEO).
Development and maintenance of Company environmental tools
Supporting the development of Safety Cases
Environmental training and awareness
Utilisation of best-practice tools and methodologies in the provision of environmental modelling
Key Responsibilities
Provide specialist support and facilitate environmental risk assessments including BPM.
Provide support to the company on implementation of requirements under RSA 93.
Assist in investigations if required
Provide technical auditing support
Provide support to Local Management Safety Inspections
Qualifications
A recognised degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline and/or experience in a relevant field
