Engine Test Team Leader
Our Client is recognised as a world-leading manufacturer of industrial diesel engines. Supplying solutions to manufacturers and users on every continent plus a vast development programme to meet ever demanding application emissions requirements has resulted in a range of exciting opportunities and challenges for experienced engine development professionals.
As part of the Technology and Solutions Division, the Global Engine Development Team (GED) delivers a world class test facility. Within Facilities Engineering the Mechanical Services Team help maintain the current facility and help plan, build and deliver a facility ready for testing Tier 4 products and beyond.
This excellent opportunity to head a small team of Engineers is open to candidates with extensive experience gained within the Development and Testing of Diesel Engines.
Candidates will ideally have a proven track record of leading a small Team of Engineers (5 8 people) and who can demonstrate the ability to develop, plan, build and prepare Engine Test Facilities using the very latest in engine technologies. (Tier 4 and beyond)
Applicants will have proven management experience including responsibility for planned capital expenditure and implementation, budget setting/delivery and resource planning. Additional duties will include recruitment of staff as necessary, plus on-going training, development and motivation of all team members in company wide topics, values and behaviour.
The Role:
Oversee set up of test facilities for specific testing requirements
Lead, support and coach the team, developing culture in line with company expectations
Planning and execution of capital projects
Responsible for demonstrating a professional ability in line with company values and behaviours at all times in the business
Drive facility up-time via a combination of TPM and other planned work
Responsibility for setting and delivering financial budgets
Managing the day-to-day costs and financial targets and achievements
Maintain resource plan of major, planned and ongoing projects
Prepare and deliver business communication such as weekly team briefs, business news and formal announcements
Ensure that communications are cascaded and delivered in a positive and timely manner
Develop, train, and motivate all staff, providing leadership to achieve desired objections.
Conduct recruitment activity as required
Ensure team members acquire necessary skills and performance attributes, in line with business and personal development needs
Requirements:
A Recognised Engineering Degree
Working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics and air handling
6 Sigma Experience (to Black Belt Level) highly desirable
Drive facility uptime via a combination of TPM and other planned work
Programme and Project Management skills are critical specifically relating to the implementation of new facilities
Prior knowledge of Engine Testing facilities
Analytical Skills
Strong communication and organizational skills
Excellent Organisational Skills
Planning and execution of Capital Projects
