My client is a looking for a Design Manager from the light engineering/ fabrication industry to head up the design on site for this passenger shelter and walkway cover specialist.
Summary of Responsibilities: Lead the Design Process of Passenger Shelters and Covered Walkways to deliver on budget, new, quality products with good aesthetics that are functional and meet any legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities -
The Design Manager will be responsible for the delivery of new designs from concept through to Production drawing package, this will include preparation of concept drawings, liaising with sub contract designer (where necessary), managing small production Drawing Office and Prototype Worker to aid with the process of Product Development and Improvement. The effective liaison/coordination with all departments is critical particularly Sales, Production and Installation.
Output:
-To prepare new Product Designs, through your own expertise and the effective management of the available resources including sub contract Designer, Drawing Office and Prototype Area
- To deliver development of existing Product, through feedback from Sales, Production and Installation and using your own expertise to develop a programme of sustained product development
-New Product and Existing Product Development to be achieved within any pre set budgetary constraints, this will require liaison with Sales, Procurement and Installation.
-Ensure all designs meet all functional requirements this will include mains and solar lighting, Real Time Information any site requirements.
Cost:
-Designs of products will range from standard Products through to bespoke projects, all will need to use standard design details and practices which simplify design, fabrication and installation and consequently reduce costs
-Ensure designs meet cost parameters pre set for individual projects
Experience needed
-Light Steel fabrication/ Aluminium extrusion experience ideal
-Experience in Pro-Engineer/ Solidworks
