Automotive JIT manufacturer are looking for an Engineering Manager to ensure optimum availability and performance of the production machinery and infrastructure equipment of their Coventry site.
Job Purpose
To ensure optimum availability and performance of the production machinery and infrastructure equipment of our Coventry based operations by utilising both internal and contracted resources. To plan, resource and execute Engineering projects within the scope of the departments capabilities.
To manage the maintenance staff by employing a structured approach to preventive and predictive maintenance, whilst responding effectively to unplanned equipment breakdowns. To work resolutely to reduce the incidence of breakdowns and to reduce the Life Cycle Costs of Asset ownership in an environmentally responsible manner.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
To compile and operate a Planned Maintenance System that incorporates preventative maintenance schedules for both infrastructure and production assets. To put into place all necessary Service Contracts to enure the plant and equipment is properly maintained.
To participate in the design of contingency procedures for machine breakdowns. These procedures to minimise production downtime.
To assist in the allocation and measurement of approved KPIs and to trend departmental performance.
To identify opportunities for implementing improvements to working processes and assets. Undertake or assist with their implementation.
To ensure assessment and minimisation of risks with regard to maintenance issues.
Select, train, supervise, and support all members of the Maintenance Team, encouraging active team working.
To provide a shift rota that provides the production environment with the required skill profile at all times.
Ensure that maintenance operations are undertaken in a safe manner ensuring that:-
All necessary risk assessments and method statements are available.
All necessary current best practice data are available and used.
Staffs is thoroughly trained in all safety aspects relating to their job.
To control the release of all costs relating to the maintenance operation by utilising the recognised purchasing and payroll systems, while seeking opportunities for reducing the Life Cycle Cost of Assets.
To apply company working practices where stipulated and, where necessary, develop, or assist in the development, of new practices.
To understand customer quality needs and to comply with the various audit processes to ensure that the expectations of both customers and the company are met.
To participate in the effective building of client relationships and to promulgate the company ideal.
To actively promote the company products and services to the customer.
To undertake liaison with customers and suppliers whenever necessary.
To ensure that all work performed under maintenance department supervision is carried out in a safe manner and to comply at all times with relevant Health & Safety regulations. This includes the supervision of subcontractors and their service engineers.
To maintain a knowledge of, and adhere to, Company policy and perform all relevant tasks with regard to published procedures and work instructions.
In addition to the duties listed above the Maintenance Manager is required to perform other duties as reasonably requested by the Site Manager.
Formal Qualifications
Professional qualification (HND) in an Electrical discipline with Mechanical engineering experience.
