Due to expansion our client based in Southall are looking for an Engineering Manager, as the ideal candidate you will have a related Engineering Degree and have experience within FMCG or Foodservices and have a proven track record within managing teams.
"To manage the site engineering function , including planned maintenance, Projects, Site Services and Utilities.
"To lead the site engineering team in continuously improving the availability of plant and equipment to be able to manufacture products in a safe and cost effective way.
"To develop and drive all new engineering project initiatives associated with improving the manufacturing capabilities of the plant, health and safety, cost improvement and team performance.
"To work with all other functional heads in setting and achieving the business objectives.
"To improve overall technical competency within the engineering team and the business as a whole.
"To develop the long term strategic plans for the engineering function.
"To ensure compliance to all relevant areas of legislation.
"To improve the effectiveness of the engineering team through training and coaching.
"To drive the 'Continuous Improvement' concepts and principles in all areas of engineering.
"To develop an ongoing strategic plan for the engineering department with key focus on plant efficiency and reliability, materials purchasing, planned maintenance and labour utilisation.
"To develop the skills level and experience of the engineering team through active coaching and the identification and provision of specialist training when required.
"To develop, organise and implement programmes that will ensure an efficient and cost-effective maintenance service to the entire site.
"To drive down the cost of utilities through effective purchasing and the introduction of initiatives that improve the utilisation of water, gas and electricity.
"Responsible for the cost control of all projects, services, plant and building maintenance for the site including the engineering stores and ensuring that costs are maintained within the annual budget.
"To drive the engineering team to achieve the best possible value for money in all areas of spend.
"To ensure that cost effective service contracts are in place to maintain any necessary services and equipment not covered by internal maintenance schedules, eg High voltage, Fire systems, goods lift.
"To ensure the maximum effectiveness of the Computerised Planned Preventative Maintenance system through continuous analysis of operational performance and condition monitoring data.
"To utilise all available KPI data to identify problem areas of plant and develop corrective action plans with the engineering and operations teams to overcome the deficiencies.
"The engineering manager will be responsible for the development of all Engineering CAPEX documents for projects within HM Foods, ensuring all costs and benefits are identified in the project justification.
"To be responsible for the planning and execution of projects, working with internal and external resources to ensure all projects are delivered on time and on budget.
"To develop the annual Capital Investment Plan for an ongoing 3 year period, ensuring that all areas of risk are identified and costed to allow the business to make informed decisions on future spending requirements.
"Work with the health and safety manager to ensure that plant and equipment is maintained and operated in a safe working condition at all times.
"To oversee safety inspections with the plant team as required, identifying potential risks and implementing corrective engineering action plans as necessary.
"Responsible with the other members of the senior management team for developing strategies and driving forward the common business objectives.
"To work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure that the plant is capable of supporting all current and future production requirements.
"To ensure manufacturing targets are maintained and down time is minimised on a daily basis.
"Drive the sharing of best practice across the site and the wider business, ensuring that learnings are documented and communicated to the relevant people.
"To support the R&D / Quality departments on improving all areas of plant and equipment through engineering solutions.
