An engineering graduate is now required to join the Research and Development Department of a small company that manufactures electronic instruments to enable research teams to test cars. Customers include the testing departments of many of the worlds major Automotive Manufacturers.
This broad role offers the right candidate an excellent opportunity to be involved in all aspects of product design from feasibility through production to investigating field failures.
The companys products use precision accelerometers and angular rate sensors. They design high accuracy electronics to convert the analogue measurements to digital values and they process the data on embedded PC processors. This is, therefore, the perfect opportunity for you to develop your skills in electronics, embedded software and mechanical design.
In the field of electronics, you will be involved in the design of Electronic circuits, both Analogue and Digital. This will include finding new components and evaluating them, understanding how to use them in a circuit, designing the overall circuit, laying out the PCB, getting the PCB manufactured, testing the prototype PCBs, designing equipment to test the PCBs and looking after the PCB throughout its life cycle.
In the field of embedded software, you will be required to get microprocessors to boot, to understand the software tools for the microprocessor and to write the necessary device drivers.
Your mechanical design skills will be required for the housing or case of the product and for product testing. The products measure motion and some motion is required to test and calibrate them. Rotational and linear test tables need to be designed and maintained.
Qualified to degree level in an engineering discipline, you will ideally have some experience of project work in Microprocessor Circuits, Embedded Software, Filter Design, Motor Control, Temperature Control or other control systems.
