Electromagnetic Design Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES
•Production of Electromagnetic designs and analysis based on existing and new machine topologies
•Liaise on modifications as necessary with all areas of the Engineering Department during the design phase
• Production of ongoing modifications to machine design as needed, to improve safety, performance, cost effectiveness, reliability, ease of manufacture etc. to suit all internal and external Customers
•Liaison with Material Control and Suppliers on specification and availability of materials, keeping abreast with the latest technologies for EM design
•Providing technical information as required to all internal functions and technical data to Customers as required
•Deal with technical enquiries from all internal and external sources as well as visiting customers to give support
•Analyse competitors products and compile relevant technical reports
•Interpreting and applying relevant National and International Standards for Design and Quality Assurance
•Carry out duties in line with the Company Quality Policy Statement
•Be flexible in offering assistance in times of high workload or absence of colleagues and carrying out any other tasks compatible with the nature and level of position, as directed by the Research and Development Executive Manager
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Ph. D. or M. Phil., in Electrical Engineering
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
•Design/Analysis of Electrical Machines and/or other Electromagnetic devices
•Teamwork in an R & D environment
•Knowledge of rotating machinery Electromagnetic fields
• Fundamental knowledge of Electromagnetic fields
• Very high competency in Maths
• Computer literacy
• Chartered Engineer (or leading to)
• Basic Power Systems and Mechanical Engineering knowledge
• Creative but structured mind
• Interest in current literature
