An opportunity to work in a marine environment, on a build of a new class submarine

We require a number of Electricians for a 6 month rolling contract in Barrow-in-Furness.

You will be involved in the build of a new class of submarine, therefore shipbuilding or marine experience will be an advantage when applying for this role.

Matchtech will arrange for candidates to obtain the required security clearance if they do not currently hold it.

Contracts are likely to run well in to 2009.

Relevant time served experience or recognised apprenticeship in a relevant environment and / or relevant qualifications such as City and Guilds, technical Certificate, ONC or industry equivalent. You will need to work on your own initiative to operating instructions and / or drawings.

Although we can only guarantee the normal 37 hours, contractors will be expected to work overtime and weekends. A half day is available on Fridays.

For local contractors the rates are as follows;

Basic 37 hours;
10.53 plus a 1.07 holiday credit
13.09 limited

Overtime hours Monday to Saturday
12.55 plus a 1.28 holiday credit
15.60 limited

Sunday hours
18.83 plus a 1.92 holiday credit
23.40 limited

Travelling contractors receive an uplift in the basic hours to cover accommodation as follows;

Basic 37 hours;
16.05 plus a 1.63 holiday credit
19.94 limited

Overtime rates as the same as the local contractors above.

Should you work back/night shift at any point in the contract then the rates would be as follows for the first 37 hours;

Local contractors - 13.68 plus 1.39 holiday credit or 17.00 Limited
Travelling contractors - 19.19 Paye plus 1.95 holiday credit or 23.85 Limited
