Job Title: Electrician for arts building London SE1.
Salary for right candidate will be between £29k-£32k
Static site, 'late shifts' will be required based on a rota system.
Purpose of Job
1. To install, maintain and modify all electrical and mechanical equipment and services within the Royal National Theatre, excluding the areas for which Systems Engineering and Stage Technical Departments have responsibility. (You may be required to work in the Systems Engineering and Stage Technical Departments at the request of the relevant managers.)
2. To oversee the work of General Assistants and assist building familiarization of new engineers and assistants.
3. To ensure equipment and installations comply with the technical requirements of the Local Theatre Licensing Authority.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. To assist in the preparation and implementation of planned maintenance routines, report on effectiveness of those routines and make recommendations to improve effectiveness.
2. To report on any plant/equipment/installations deterioration and recommend required action.
3. To carry out installation, maintenance and overhaul of electrical and/or mechanical equipment as directed.
4. To provide an engineering service, on a rota basis, ensuring plant, equipment and services are functioning, and to provide engineering cover in the event of an emergency, whenever the building is occupied by the public.
5. To oversee standards of work and assist in training of General Assistants.
6. To be aware of Health and Safety legislation and ensure safety of the public, contractors and staff through the use of safe working practices.
7. To support the National's communications objectives by sharing information with your manager, team and colleagues as appropriate, whilst respecting confidentiality, so that you and your colleagues have all the information you need to perform your duties effectively.
8. To comply with the National's Equal Opportunities and Health & Safety policies at all times.
The Applicant ideally must have a recognized electrical engineering apprenticeship; those without apprentice will be considered.
City & Guilds part 3 qualification or equivalent. Previous experience necessary. Must be able to work as part of a team.
