Description

To carry out design activities required to define the air-vehicle electrical systems installation design including 2-D and 3-D design definitions appropriate.

JOB FUNCTION
The Electrical and Avionic Systems Group is responsible for all engineering activities associated with electrical and avionic systems for all helicopter products and supporting ground systems, including networking with other platforms.

Specific responsibilities include:-

-Technology Development
-Systems Integration
-Aircraft Avionic Systems
-Mission Systems, Data Management and Tactical Processing
-Electrical Systems Design and Installation
-Electromagnetic Environment and Effects

The purpose of the Electrical Design Office is:

To carry out design activities required to define the air-vehicle electrical systems installation design including 2-D and 3-D design definitions appropriate.

To carry out design activities required to define and integrate the air vehicle wiring and loom design and installation, including loom routing definition, design and installation of avionic bays, instrument panels and electrical switchgear and protection panels.

To provide input and support to the manufacturing and procurement processes and systems.

To develop the technologies, tools, methods and processes required to carry out these activities in an efficient and effective manner.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
•Degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Avionic, Electronic, Software or Electrical Engineering) or HNC/HND/BTEC and Apprenticeship.
•Have a detailed knowledge and understanding of the relevant airworthiness regulations.
•Have a good understanding of the aircraft electrical armament requirements.
•Have a good understanding of the aircraft manufacturing and build process.
•Have a good understanding of the company Change Management System.
•Have a good understanding of the company Data Management System.
•Knowledge of electrical and avionic system installation, wiring design and supporting tools and processes, such as:

•Background knowledge in the design, development, integration and qualification of Electrical and Avionic Systems, including:
Wiring and Harness specifications and design methods.
Electrical Installation methods and techniques
Communication and Navigation Systems;
Controls and Displays, and Human-Machine Integration;
Mission Sensor Systems, such as Radar, EW and FLIR;
Aircraft and Mission Processing Systems
Electrical Installation and system integration
Electromagnetic Environment and Effects.
