Description

An Electrical Service Engineer is required for a leading Ship power supplier for builders and operators of vessels and offshore installations. There is the potential to earn up to £70,000 through overtime (Monday - Saturday time 1/2 and Sunday double).

Accountabilities

1. Accuracy and professional standard of field service deliverables (i.e. problem solving and quality of work).
2. Compliance with Health and Safety legislation, QA and other Company procedures at all times.
3. Carry out all tasks in such a way as to ensure maximum (internal and external) satisfaction at all times to the extent that this is within the employee's control.
4. To meet personal targets set for the individual as agreed under the appraisal system, keeping such targets under regular review (at least monthly) and taking appropriate action to maintain performance against targets with support from and in collaboration with other colleagues as necessary.
5. Supervision of field service teams; Maintaining of morale and team spirit, ensuring that all members of the team are fully familiar with the company QA policies, Health and Safety regulations
6. Compliance at all times with appropriate QA and Health and Safety procedures.

Have you been involved in the commissioning of marine/offshore power generation and associated control, monitoring and protection systems?
Are you familiar with operating Medium voltage and low voltage switchgear and digital control systems?


Main Responsibilities

1. Take responsibility as team leader supervising service engineers/sub-contractors/ shipyard labour on location; take a leading role and assist with all work being carried out in the workshop and on site.
2. Carry out site surveys and detail work load
3. Prepare a list of tools and materials needed for work load
4. Carry out the commissioning of generator controls and power management systems.
5. Liaise with customer on site handling enquiries and technical queries.
6. Liaise closely with the General Manager and customers to ensure service deadlines are met.
7. Play a leading role in ensuring that all work carried out is to ISO 9001/2000 standard.
8. Ensure that all activities on-site are carried out in accordance with the site safety rules and in compliance with the Company's Health and Safety obligations.
9. To adopt a pleasant, adaptable attitude when requested to assist Company staff with any ad-hoc duties that may be required.
10. In addition to the above duties and responsibilities, the post holder must be prepared to undertake such additional duties within their capabilities which may result from changing circumstances, but which may not of necessity, change the general character or level of responsibility of the post.

Personal Skills

High voltage switching experience.
Considerable experience of power generating plant and switchgear
Knowledge of power system electrical protection (breakers and relays)
Experience of power management systems (speed governors, voltage regulators and synchronising)
HND/HNC Engineering
