The company has concluded that the UK will provide the main basis for further expansion and they are now in the process of setting up a new division in Crawley, West Sussex where there are vacancies for Electrical/Instrumentation and Control Design Engineers.
As Electrical/Instrumentation Control Design Engineer you will undertake the verification of the Clients specifications in the first instance to ensure that the Clients requirements are fully covered in any sub-contract and that the content is in compliance with British regulations and codes. You will prepare the necessary engineering documents; undertake the examination of the tender specifications and identify possible gaps, discrepancies or omissions that would potentially lead to claims. You will help to ensure communication within the project team and with the Project Manager. You will inform the Project Manager with respect to positive events/developments in the project; expected missing of deadlines/delays; cost overruns and risks; contract changes/variations; problems with subcontractors as well as resource bottlenecks and personnel changes.

You will assist the Project Manager in monitoring the Project Completion Programme; ensuring that all potential and actual delays are identified, proposing remedies and ensuring the all sub-contractors activities are suitably co-coordinated. You will also identify and deal with deviations and risks as agreed with the Project Manager. Furthermore you will propose changes (technical, deadlines, costs) and submit them to the Project Manager for approval before implementation or additional handling with the customer.
You will also undertake claim Management to the supplier together with the Project Team. You will have responsibility for costs for the assigned systems and for ensuring that the requirements of the customers contract as well as the project-specific requirements are satisfied. You will approve subcontractors documents and ensure constructive supplier relationships. You will also undertake the technical leadership of the electrical/instrumentation and control section, providing others with necessary information concerning UK standards and practices. Close co-operation and exchange of experiences with other project teams and departments will be required.
For this role you will need proven leadership in the electrical or instrumentation and controls design of Power Stations, Waste to Energy or large industrial plants. Sound knowledge of the electrical/instrumentation and control design is essential. Successful candidates will also have the capability to lead trade discussions with subcontractors. Sound knowledge and experience in British Standards and international standards as well as the ability to recognize improvements in existing processes and confidence to implement changes is also required.
You will be educated to degree/HND level in electrical or control engineering or have equivalent experience. Sound knowledge of the supply/subcontracting market in the UK is also necessary for this role.
