Design Engineer
ESSENTIAL PURPOSE
•To prepare the electrical design in line with the scope of works and the tender value.
•To prepare net cost estimates, negotiate and endeavour to procure an order.
TAKE OFF
•To prepare information from specifications and drawings etc for pricing.
DESIGN AT TENDER STAGE.
•To prepare electrical designs from information provided by the client to enable an estimate to be prepared
COMPUTER INPUT
•Input from take off sheets information required to prepare estimate from computerised programme.
TENDER SUMMARY
•Create tender summary details including prelims etc for discussion with Estimating Manager and or Director(s).
MATERIALS
•Prepare best buy material lists to assist engineer, highlighting areas of concern.
DESIGN
•To prepare electrical designs including builders working drawings from specifications or performance briefs on information provided by the client and estimator within the scope of value engineering within the agreed tender cost.
•To liaise with both internal and external mechanical design teams.
DESIGN CHANGES
•To re-cost where necessary any design changes requested by the developer or client ensuring where ever possible an increase in the original G.M. in conjunction with the project engineer
HAND-OVER
•To discuss the project with the engineer, highlighting areas of concern.
MARKET UP-DATES
•To be constantly aware of new methods, techniques and materials, ensuring the company are up to date with innovations and maintaining a competitive edge in the Marketplace.
SALES
•To be pro-active in the creation of sales and marketing opportunities.
NEGOTIATION
•To negotiate tenders in conjunction with the Operations Director and or the Managing Director.
