Electrical Engineer - Medium Voltage - Exciting opportunity to join this specialist in the Defence market where you will provide an electrical engineering lead in developing product concepts on under-water cable termination and array/sensor related projects, for the company's Naval Defence business and Energy business. He/she will provide the necessary man management and motivation skills to lead a small team, with presentation skills necessary to satisfy internal quality procedures and customer reviews.
This role could be based in the far South West or up in Scotland.
Duties
Take full product technical design responsibility, including design schematics, process development and proving, qualification testing and assessment of manufacturability. This will include leading and working effectively with own team and also satisfying needs of internal business groups, potential clients and internal management functions. He/she will be a self-starter able to quickly assimilate the essentials of the required task using a pragmatic design approach, with a balance between an academic and practical "hands-on" style, identifying and using other key resources as necessary.
As a practised problem solver, he/she will have potential for being used as an internal Consultant who is able to refine own or others ideas, carry out detailed reviews and develop / sell technical concepts.
He/she will require the ability to translate perceived requirements into development resource profiles and costed plans that will withstand detailed review.
Candidate Profile
Detailed knowledge and experience of underwater cable and array systems, power distribution systems and familiarity with Offshore Wellhead Control Systems (electrical and hydraulic cables and sub-systems). Detailed knowledge of Medium Voltage cable and component engineering, including testing and design criteria that apply to medium voltage cable terminations.

Candidate Profile

Detailed knowledge of Medium Voltage cable and component engineering, including testing and design criteria that apply to medium voltage cable terminations, connectors and encapsulated products in a seawater high-pressure harsh environment. Familiarity with defence and commercial standards that may apply to cable related equipment and terminations, together with knowledge of relevant regulations and codes of practice. Qualified to degree level or equivalent with at least 10 years relevant industrial experience.
