Description
Entec is a major environmental and engineering consultancy with over 800 staff and associates across a national network of offices. We have vacancies for committed self-motivated, conscientious electrical designers to join our multi-discipline project engineering teams. Our Clients include water companies, government departments and contracting organisations who provide us with challenging projects of an industrial nature.
Working as a member of a multidiscipline project design team, you will be responsible for delivering the electrical input to Water Industry projects at all stages from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed designs for construction.
Your varied duties will range from surveying and reporting on existing electrical installations, to determining the optimum electrical power system architecture, to writing the contract documentation, to witnessing electrical equipment acceptance tests. You can expect to work with P&IDs, create electrical schematic and design drawings and documentation, perform and check cable calculations; both using software and by hand, and write reports and specifications.
You will have a minimum of a HNC / HND or equivalent (ideally a degree) in Electrical Engineering and be a Chartered Engineer, or be qualified and motivated to become Chartered.
You will also need to demonstrate the following:
• recent electrical design experience to BS7671; working on electrical projects in the chemical, process utility or allied industries - Water Industry experience will be a significant advantage
• experience of working with P&IDs to create equipment and instrumentation schedules, and load schedules
• specific experience in the evaluation, design, and specification of electrical power and control systems, including the production of electricity supply, switchgear and motor control centre, instrumentation, and cabling detailed design packages
• experience in checking contractors, schematics, calculations, drawings
• DSEAR and hazardous area electrical installation experience will be advantageous
• a practical appreciation of electrical safe systems of work
• experience of testing, setting to work, and the commissioning of electrical equipment and systems
• a practical appreciation of electrical safe systems of work
Typically we would expect someone to have at least three years post qualification experience to have the skills and knowledge required to undertake this role successfully. We are also open to the option of recruiting an Assistant Electrical Engineer.
