ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER
POWER CONVERSION SYSTEMS

We are seeking a Electrical Design Engineer to produce electrical design, manufacturing and test instructions and be responsible for co-ordinating all engineering activities on a wide range of individual projects for customised or specially engineered large rotating electrical machines.
You will be responsible for the production of engineering instructions in support of procurement, manufacturing and co-ordinating engineering activities in support of individual tenders as well as ensuring that the engineering output for individual allocated projects is produced in an accurate and timely manner, within budget. You will also be responsible for project technical liaison with manufacturing, suppliers and customers and the production of test instructions and the analysis and verification of test results as well as taking responsibility for the technical content of installation, Operation and Maintenance Manuals.
As Electrical Design Engineer you should be degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, have experience in the design of a.c. motors and generators and associated packaged equipment. You should also have experience in the design of PMGs and exciters, medium to high voltage cubicles/termination equipment, machinery ventilation, heat-exchanger systems and the requirements for certified electrical machinery for hazardous area applications. Experience of F.E. analysis tools, ideally Vector Fields is desirable but not essential.
You will need excellent communication skills and the ability to be decisive when necessary. You should have a resilient and persistent nature and the ability to think 'outside of the box', as well as being a good team player, having a flexible attitude and a willingness to take on new skills.
