Description
Electrical Design Engineer - Exciting opportunity to join this leading Defence player. An experienced electrical design engineer is required to carry out a wide range of interesting electrical tasks within the Vehicle Systems Business Area of the Combat Systems Integration Sector.
The role will be based in Bedfordshire and is commutable from Bedford, Milton Keynes, Luton & Royston.
The work will cover detailed design, installation and test of a diverse range of equipment but primarily involving power supply, distribution, control and storage systems, definition and test of HUMS systems, the design of harnesses with connectors, understanding of EMC and its effects on electrical systems, and the development of knowledge and capabilities associated with all types of present and evolving electrical components and systems as used on automotive and military vehicles as part of, or installed within, vehicles and land based systems in the Defence industry.
The post may involve liaising with suppliers and prime contractors within the UK and overseas.

ESSENTIAL Experience
Qualified to Degree / HNC level or equivalent in Electrical Engineering. A sound engineering background with a detailed understanding of hardware. Experience in the design of Automotive, Weapon or Military Vehicle based Electrical Systems. Successful track record of design and test achievement.
Desirable Experience
Previous industrial experience of a design and development environment in military vehicle or
automotive systems, with particular experience of the application of state of the art electrical systems.
Experience in use of Vutrax or Protel software packages would be an advantage. A working knowledge of SAP R3 Version 4.6 would be an advantage. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to write clear and concise reports.
