Principal Duties
On-site electrical commissioning of PRISMIC units, large high voltage and medium voltage electric motors and generators and their associated control and protection equipment, including:
Checking of customers interconnections.
Injection and proving of protection relays.
Optimising the settings on automatic voltage regulators, automatic synchronisers and power management systems.
Carrying out performance and acceptance testing of large motors and generators and associated equipment.
Basic mechanical strip-down (and rebuild) of machines to gain access for testing/commissioning work.
Carrying out electrical testing on high and low voltage windings in the field.
Assisting winding specialists in carrying out winding repairs and rewinds.
Supervision and training of customers/subcontractors/manufacturing associates/service agents personnel.
Preparation of method statements.
Preparation of detailed and concise reports for submission to customers.
Qualifications/Experience
Either a degree (or a minimum HNC) is preferred
Experience in commissioning and fault diagnosis/rectification of control and protection equipment used in association with high voltage electric motors and generators, including the latest multifunctional relays and microprocessor based technology. Experience of safe systems of work in relation to high voltage and medium voltage electrical systems.
