ELS (Expeditionary Logistics Support) Consultant (Air) - required for this dynamic defence, Space & aerospace consultancy based in a spectacular rural location within commutable distance to Bath, Bristol, Chippenham etc. to be responsible for a variety of Air technical capability development research themes aimed at delivering real military benefit within the Expeditionary Logistic Support (ELS) domain.
Act as the point of contact for all Air related tasks for ELS. Deal with and manage staff and external contractors on Air tasks. Review, critique and comment on the quality and compliance of outputs from staff and external contractors on Air tasks. Amass an understanding of the technical work being carried out on the Air related activities of in-theatre support. Provide technical advice to staff and external contractors on Air issues. Act as Task Manager for assigned Air tasks. Work for other Task Managers on allocated Air tasks. Inform the relevant Task Manager, in good time, of any issues or risks which threaten completion of the assigned work within the stated constraints; providing also ideas for ways to mitigate the issues or risks. Liaise and work with other companies, organisations and academia in the execution and completion of the assigned work. Complete and deliver work to the required standard within the time and cost constraints on the assigned tasking. Report as required on the progress of assigned work.
Ideally be educated to MSc Defence Logistic Management - a First degree is essential and Membership of a professional institution is preferred.
The successful candidate will have skills and experience relating specifically to the Air domain of ELS, have experience of formation logistic planning and be able to provide specific examples of working in ELS Air environment related matters, the problems encountered, solutions employed and success achieved. Able to describe the key issues associated with Air environment ELS. Able to liaise with customer and external contractors on technical issues relating to systems engineering and system design. Able to discuss and show understanding of the MoD research and procurement processes and organisations. Ability to communicate with DE&S, DEC, DTIC and related organisations at all levels. To manage allocated budget and resources to meet agreed milestones and deliverables. To possess the level of skill of project and people management to act as a Task Manager. To work individually and within a team environment of multi-disciplined specialists and engineering disciplines to achieve programme results and customer deliverables in a timely and accurate manner. Capable of demonstrating understanding of design issues relating to complex systems, or a system of systems. Competent user of Microsoft applications and Windows OS (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access etc). Experienced in and capable of working to ISO 9001:2000 standards.
The ELS Consultant must be a good Communicator (presentation skills, reporting, customer relations). Able to quickly gain respect for sound technical judgement from both external and internal customers. Team Worker but able to work alone if required. Able to deliver and finish assigned tasks. Is reliable and delivers on promises. Accepting of review of work carried out and incorporation of positive criticism. Able to support several Tasks at the same time and to refocus effort at short notice. Prepared to develop into new technical areas beyond current specialisation. Able to work to agreed deadlines and deliver products to specified quality standards. Willing and able to visit customers / suppliers and undertake occasional work at other locations in the UK. Be able to set and maintain high personal standards and encourage staff to do likewise by setting a good example at all times. Be ambitious and enthusiastic to pursue a rewarding career within the opportunities offered by an expanding company.
