An exciting opportunity for an experienced E&I Engineer to work for a leading Steel Company that provides services to many industries.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will provide design engineering expertise on single and multi disciplinary project. Ideally, the candidate will be of graduate calibre, chartered or working toward chartered status, capable and flexible, with the depth of knowledge and practical experience required to work with the engineering team and major suppliers on activities including design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and to demonstrate design requirements, relevant specifications and standards, quality assurance. A track record of design experience in one or more of the power, nuclear, defence, pharmaceutical, process and utility sectors is essential, with knowledge of defence and nuclear engineering being an advantage.
Knowledge and application of the requirements of UK/EU Laws and Regulations applicable to EC&I services and an understanding of LV power distribution control and cabling in accordance with IEE 16th/17th Edition. Experience of PLC based plant control design, implementation and commissioning would be advantageous.
Key Activities:
- Leading the design of equipment and systems to meet customers requirements, in line with budgets and timescales
- Support tender and bid process.
- Produce circuit design schemes.
- Develop design concepts to the complete design.
- Carry out design reviews.
- Specification and selection of components.
- Liaise and work closely with sub-contractors and suppliers.
- Generate test specifications and oversee approval tests.
- Specify and support the installation and commissioning team.
- Effectively manage allocated design engineering resources including timescales and budgets.
Key Skills:
- Experience of design or application engineering of industrial control systems.
- Knowledge of safety related systems and power electrical systems
- Capable of developing bespoke solutions to specific needs.
- Experience of electrical systems design and component/sub-systems specification
- Exposure to a broad range of applications, with responsibility for requirement definition, products/components evaluation and selection.
- Understanding of the electro-mechanical point of interface.
- Must clearly demonstrate a strong interest and enthusiasm for innovative electrical engineering design.
- Presentation skills, typically technical presentations to customers.
- Good communication skills, dealing with other employees and external clients
- Confident, proactive character, ability to take the lead in challenging situations
- Have a flexible approach and be a team player
