The successful candidate will work within the Interior Trim function group and have responsibility for the analysis of Interior Componetns for production. Purpose of the Role: To carry out Dimensional Management of Interior systems and provide DM support to other technical groups. Provide GD&T support to engineering and offer Root Cause Analysis support to any build phase activities.
Role Dimensions: Work as part of the Dimensional Management team, having close interaction with all technical groups and communicate effectively at all levels of the company. Principal Accountabilities: Dimensional Management:
Generate location strategies
Build 3DCS tolerance analysis model
Run simulations and report against Gap & Flush targets
Raise concerns and follow through to resolution
Provide input on dimensional issues to design reviews
Input to Design for Manufacture reviews with suppliers
Carry out additional study requests as required
Provide GD&T support to Engineering:
Provide support in generating GD&T which supports the vehicle dimensional strategy affecting assembly jigs, fixtures and measurement plans
Provide Build Phase support:
Work closely with SQA in understanding process capabilities and feeding data back into the tolerance model
Resolve build issues and support design changes
Knowledge, Skills and Experience: Must have a very good understanding of the following:
Overall Dimensional management process The application of best practice location strategies to composites, pressed aluminium panels and Interior Trim components.
Proficient in use of 3DCS tolerance analysis software or VisVSA
Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing in accordance with BS8888
Assembly Jigs and fixtures
Measurement and gauging Personal Attributes: Must show initiative, have good interpersonal skills and work well within a team, show flexibility and have an ability to effectively communicate challenging technical issues to engineering, quality and production engineers.
