Development Manager
Our client is a leading force in the design and manufacture of 'Off Highway' machines. As part of a worldwide group they currently market more than 50 diverse and well-respected brands which cover a broad range of equipment for the construction, infrastructure, quarrying, recycling, surface mining, shipping, transportation, refining, utility, and maintenance industries.
The Role:
This role will control all product development that is undertaken
As Development Manager, you will provide clear direction to your team using excellent written and verbal communication skills
In order to provide your internal Engineering customers with a flexible can do attitude you will need to show that you can manage multiple development projects within a challenging environment while still achieving committed deliverables
You and your team of 9 Engineers will provide support and guidance to the other members of the Engineering community in order to achieve common business unit and functional goals
Responsible for all Health and Safety activities within the Development department, controlling all risk assessments for on-site/off-site development activities and by working closely with internal H&S champions
Responsible for ALL Development activities for products designed on site
Provide Engineering Management with a flexible can do attitude team that has the ability to meet challenging deadlines
Coach team members and provide talent management

As a departmental head, financial budget setting and controlling will also be under your control, as well as providing a career path for team progression
Requirements:
HND/Degree in Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience
Experienced in Product Development ideally within the off-highway / specialist vehicle sector
Experience of test instrumentation and calibration
Experience in writing and controlling Risk Assessments
Experience in generating Test Procedures to suit individual vehicles applications that comply with in-house and industry standards
Experienced Manager with the abilities to lead a multi skilled team
Excellent Team Leader that brings a wealth of hands-on engineering knowledge
Has the ability to lead their team from the front
Experienced in developing and bringing new products to market in a medium volume production environment
Excellent working knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical and Hydraulic systems
Excellent problem solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Can plan and control workflow through their department to meet business requirements
Ability to work independently and as part of the Engineering Management Team
Flexibility to work outside of standard hours and to travel to suit business needs
Ability to provide a safe working environment within the workshops and during off-site development activities
