Description
An exciting and varied role within the R&D department of a worldwide company who design, develop and manufacture products for the worlds Naval and Commercial marine markets.
Accountabilities:
Develop and design new and existing products for the Company portfolio.
Provide technical information in the form of design specifications, test specifications, proposal and manufacturing drawings, technical reports.
Manage own projects to meet department due dates.
Main Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will work closely with other members of staff within the Development section of the Technology group to develop new and existing products for use in the global marine market.
Microsoft Office software will be used to produce relevant documents and timing plans to initiate and maintain projects and ensure due dates are achieved.
Solid Edge 3D modelling software will be used to produce models and drawings of new concepts and test rig hardware.
Development trials will be run using full size prototypes. These will be assembled and mounted to specific in house test rigs which will simulate running conditions onboard a vessel. Trials will be fully monitored and the data recorded will be used together with other media to produce full project reports for management, customers and promotions as required
Overseas travel in accordance with current projects may be required occasionally.
Professional Skills:
mechanical engineering experience
2D/3D/solid modelling CAD experience
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software
Practical hands on experience, including test and problem solving
Understanding of engineering principles, materials & systems
Organized and Methodical, with a practical approach
Good communication skills
Education:
HND / HNC level minimum
Engineering Degree preferred
