Development Engineer

The fuel systems team is part of the Engineering Performance and Emissions department. The team is responsible for all low and high-pressure fuel system components from both mechanical and electronic common rail engines. The position is within the Common Rail Fuel Systems team, which is responsible for Fuel Injection Systems on the engine. The role gives the opportunity to take responsibility of component validation from concept through to production.
The Role:
You will have responsibility for the delivery of component validation plans to meet quality and time targets
You will work closely with Engineering Specialists and/or Validation Engineers to assist in the daily tasks required to support test activities
Specific responsibilities include execution of component rig tests, instrumentation set up and operation
The job also entails the ordering of parts for targeted engine tests, engine test programme design and instructions
You will analyse data or components from test, present to the team test results and conclusions in a clear and logical fashion and provide recommendations of next steps i.e. design changes, further test work
You will be expected to keep abreast of technology changes within this area, understand manufacturing process and provide guidance and direction for the project and less experienced engineers
Requirements:
Excellent analytical skills and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Understanding of engineering detail drawings
Ability to communicate technical information effectively (written and verbal)
Experience in engine development is desired (fuel systems experience is not necessary)
Excellent computer literacy skills
Engineering degree or equivalent
