DESIGNER - BASILDON - SALARY NEGOTIABLE
Do you have H&V or Building Services experience? Our clients are specialists in Swimming Pool Design and due to expansion now require a Senior Engineer or a Junior Designer with AutoCAD experience. The role will involve visiting clients, surveying, designing pools and draughting. Salary Negotiable.
Duties:
A typical day could involve any or all of the following. This could typically be for a small domestic indoor pool, or could be as large as a local authority leisure centre.
1) Review architects drawings, either paper plans or electronic and assess the indoor pool shown. Calculate pool area, evaporation expected and select the appropriate dehumidifier.
2) Assess the above drawings and calculate the surface areas of floors, walls, ceilings and glass and using appropriate U values calculate the likely heat losses.
3) Assess the requirements of the building in respect of air supplies onto glass. Size a ductwork scheme according to the required air flows and outlet locations.
4) Draw a ductwork scheme in accordance with the above calculations.
5) Select the appropriate boiler and size pumps and pipework capable of transferring the required heat to the air handling system to be installed.
6) Size, select and draw hot and cold water systems
7) Issue ductwork drawings to sheet metal subcontractors, compare and collate costs in preparation for placing orders
8) Site surveying to measure as installed structures to provide dimensioned drawings for ductwork fabrication
9) Draw, from engineers notes, the required internal circuitry for control panels
10) Order machines, boilers, grilles from established supply chains and co-ordinate availability of in house and subcontracted labour.
11) Design pool filtration system based upon pool water volume and established circulation rates and filter velocities.
12) Design pool plant room in accordance with required air handling system, boiler plant and pool water filtration plant. Liaise with architect to ensure available space is adequate for installation and maintenance.
13) Provide outline drawings for pool contractors, generally from supplied hand sketches indicating pool construction, wall thicknesses, water depths and location of all pool fittings. Provide these details also for spa systems.
The ideal candidate will be an experience Design Engineer or a Junior Design Engineer who is presently involved in design draughting of Mechanical or Electrical Building Services although a bright engineer from a mechanical background will be considered.
