The Design Engineer is responsible for performing complex engineering experiments to identify, test, prove, or modify engineering propositions to aid in the development of new and unique products.
Position Responsibilities:
>?? Designs new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
>?? Recommends new procedures as necessary
>?? Facilitates strategic Research & Development initiative planning in conjunction with Product Management to achieve market leading product/production technologies in a cost justifiable manner. This includes identification of the research that may lead to patentable products, development of specific products to meet identified market needs and extension of existing products to extend usefulness into new areas. Ensures protection of intellectual property and publication of findings after protection is secured.
>?? Design and development of products using the New Product Development Process.
>?? Development and evaluation of new product criteria while ensuring that comprehensive feasibility and profitability analyses are conducted on all new and existing products.
>?? Ensure products conform to cost and performance specifications, and that all products conform to many different National and Federal safety standards and regulatory requirements.
>?? Track key new product development metrics and report progress on an established basis.
>?? Supports the continuous quality improvement process by evaluating the product lines and processes for performance enhancements. Support fastener improvement (lowering production cost and/or improved performance) of present fastener product line.
>?? Determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
>?? Advise management of new developments, which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.
>?? Maintaining current knowledge of engineering and technological developments that could be useful and relevant to the business (including relationships with various professional organizations).
Qualifications:
>?? Proficient in the use of excel, word , power point and other related software programs that are necessary to complete the job functions
>?? Project management skills
>?? Presentation skills
>?? Ability to provide data driven analysis
>?? Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering preferred
