Our client, a highly regarded manufacturer of mechanical handling systems and associated equipment occupies a leading position within their markets and are strongly committed to manufacturing in the UK. Their state of the art facilities produce both standard systems and customised solutions for specific client applications and this later area of activity has grown substantially. Due to an internal promotion, they are now seeking a creative and capable design manager.
Reporting to the Senior Manager for Design and Development, this role will see you leading and managing a highly qualified and motivated team of engineers in the development of unique equipment for specialised client applications. Your responsibilities will include: concept generation from initial customer specifications, design integrity evaluation, pre-manufacture costing, prototype production and final full product manufacture. Whilst working within an organised structure, this wide-ranging role provides you with autonomy to deliver creative design solutions.
A graduate in mechanical engineering, you will already have gained substantial design experience within high integrity applications and will have particular strengths in mechanical fabrications, hydraulic, pneumatic or electrical positioning systems. Further, you will have a track record of successfully managing a design team where the emphasis is on new product design. As a communicative manager, you will develop and promote a strong culture of team working within the design environment to achieve commercially successful and technically robust solutions for clients.
