Design Engineer
To produce manufacturing and design data to enable manufacture and assembly of Ground Systems products, working closely with the Engineering staff on mechanical aspects of Naval, land or air satcom systems.

Qualifications and/or Skills
Essential
Experienced user of a 3D CAD system.
Catia v5, and experience in that tool would be a distinct advantage
Must be able to explain the reasoning behind configuration control.
Must be able to explain the need for control and recording of modifications to manufacturing information
Desirable:
Should be familiar with a PDM system.
Competent AUTOCAD user.
Preferably to have worked in the Electronics/Telecommunications Industry. HNC in mechanical / electrical engineering
The following attributes although not essential would be a distinct advantage to any applicant:-
Should have served a recognised apprenticeship.
The use of EUCLID.
A knowledge of :- 19 inch racking systems.
Galvanic corrosion and its prevention.
Designing of weatherproof enclosures.
Designing to meet EMC guidelines.
EN 60950.
Various types of R.F. Transmission Media.
Sheet metal fabrications and the use of inserts.
Packaging of telecommunication subsystems into military applications.
Be familiar with precision static and dynamic assemblies.
Conventional machining techniques.
Be familiar the different ranges of connectors used for d.c; a.c. and R.F. applications and have knowledge of the connector accessories.
Multi-core Cable Assemblies.
Producing Wiring Information.
BS 308 and DEF. STD 05-10/4.
Previous Experience
Preferably to have worked in the Electronics/Telecommunications Industry.
Successful candidates will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment.
