Design Engineer
We are supporting a global, diverse technology leader and the World's largest and most successful engine company. Our client leads the field in the design and manufacture of high-performance engines. Their continuous development programme, dedicated to furthering engine design allows them to offer one of the most advanced and comprehensive ranges of purpose-built diesel engines available today. Staying ahead in a rapidly changing world is vital and to achieve this they need ambitious, talented individuals who have the potential to create, challenge, and deliver global objectives.
An exciting opportunity exists for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work within the Current Products Team. The current product team is a newly formed multi-functional team within Mechanical, undertaking responsibility for all engineering issues associated with the current product.
The Role:
Will involve working on all aspects of current product engine design. Current product is defined as all engine ranges prior to Tier 4. Work is likely to be varied and fast paced offering an excellent opportunity for gaining design experience with all aspects of diesel engines
A significant emphasis in driving improvements in product quality, you will be responsible for the mechanical engineering design studies and ProE drawing work necessary to implement necessary design and process changes to meet the teams goals
Where appropriate, coordinating design and detailing work with outsourced design houses will be required
Collaboration with multiple functions of the business including not least other multi-functional teams, manufacturing, applications, SPQ and CPI teams
Requirements:
Engineering Degree or relevant experience and demonstrated competency
Good understanding of component design, mechanics and manufacturing processes
Strong technical background combined with a keen desire to improve understanding & knowledge of engine systems in general
Excellent team player, enthusiastic and have strong values with the ability to work under pressure with different functional areas, internal and external customers and suppliers is a pre-requisite
Experience of project management
ProE
FMEA, APQP and 8D problem solving would be a benefit although training will be provided if required
Awareness of engine and component test would also be beneficial
