Description
Design Engineer
We are supporting a global, diverse technology leader and the World's largest and most successful engine company. Our client leads the field in the design and manufacture of high-performance engines. They are committed to an expansion programme throughout 2007 and beyond that includes the acquisition of a wide range of engineering specialists within: Mechanical Engineering, CAE, Performance & Emissions, Electronics, Global Engine Development and Aftertreatment.
The Emission Systems team has design control responsibility for integration of the emission system components.
The Role:
You will be responsible for working with the Emissions Integration Applications Engineer, Engine Application Engineers and Customers on the packaging and integration of the emissions system related components to the end application
Will include management of the component detailing and releasing for the build phases leading up to and including Production
Components may include tanks, lines, handling, thermal management, sensors, pipes, flex couplings, expansion joints, and mounts
Include identifying available package space, leading the system design of the aftertreatment components, leading design reviews, working with suppliers and customers of the emissions systems including supporting APQP and definition of the BOM
Key focus will be maximizing commonality across machine and engine platforms
Requirements:
4 year Engineering Degree, preferably Mechanical or Equivalent Experience
Minimum of 2 years Engine and/or Emission design and development experience
Knowledge of engine development process
Knowledge of machine applications & machine packaging
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and presentations and interaction with internal/external customers
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in multi-disciplined, multi-cultural CPPD team environment consisting of designers, applications engineers, test engineers, purchasing, product support, and product safety representatives
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience in Pro-E Wildfire
