Opportunity for a design draughter with Autocad experience to work for a company who specialise in Hydraulic system design
Purpose
To take accountability and responsibility for producing hydraulic systems design to support the achievement of department objectives and the provision of superior service in a high quality, timely, cost-effective and resource-efficient way.
Main Objectives and Tasks
1. To keep up to date with new product developments in defined industry sector(s) in order to enhance business decision making by:
a) Maintaining good knowledge and understanding of company products and services, customers, trends in hydraulic systems, hydraulics development and manufacture and engineering materials and processes.
b) Sharing information and ideas to enable others to fulfil their role and build their understanding of the team and department targets and objectives.
2. To contribute to the overall department objectives and plan by:
a) Identifying and utilising opportunities and suggestions for improvements and growth.
b) Contributing information, ideas and suggestions for improvements.
3. To contribute to the delivery of hydraulic systems design through undertaking the following:
a) Agreeing relevant individual/personal objectives, targets and success criteria for assigned activities and own area of work such as:
>?? Producing detailed hydraulic system designs and part lists to the engineer's instruction to meet customer specifications.
>?? Producing general assembly, circuit and/or fabrication and/or manifold drawings to meet the order schedule and to the required standard.
>?? Consulting with the design/responsible engineer, ensuring approval of designs and parts lists in the meeting of specification and standards, identifying issues before they become a setback.
>?? Working to prepared work schedules and informing relevant parties of any issues and anticipated delays.
>?? Confirming, actioning and issuing agreed changes to the design solution.
>?? Researching, developing and maintaining in-house engineering and technical standards.
>?? Ensuring easy, complete access of relevant information/materials by organising and maintaining files and works area.
b) Agreeing job requirements and competencies, participating in relevant training and development and asking for support as required.
c) Monitoring and sharing own progress and addressing any changes, taking corrective action as required.
d) Communicating regularly with other members of the team, department and business to ensure rapid two-way flow of information and contribution to effective team working.
4. To take joint responsibility for project planning, design delivery and cost control by:
a) Contributing to the development of department objectives.
b) Delivering jobs/projects and/or activities to meet these objectives.
c) Monitoring progress and addressing any variances/changes.
d) Ensuring quality standards and customer requirements are met.
5. To ensure the efficient and effective utilisation of financial and physical resources by:
a) Maximising the use and sharing of resources and identifying and eliminating waste.
b) Contributing to the setting of standards, policies and procedures.
c) Ensuring that systems, policies, procedures and work standards fit with and/or enhance others used in the business.
d) Balancing cost/risk vs. benefit when specifying or recommending any changes.
>?? Ensuring engineering time and overheads are correctly accounted for in each job/project.
