Description
Our client is seeking Process Control Systems engineers for its Ethylene Plant in Scotland.
Typical job responsibilities. As a Process Control Systems Engineer in a manufacturing Site, you will:
Be part of a team at a world-scale plant which manufactures a wide range of petrochemical products.
Apply your Systems Engineering skills in a team environment, working with experienced technical and process personnel to provide support for process control computing and networking system environment used in the monitoring and control of chemical process units.
Manage a large multi-cluster Honeywell Experion computing platform used in real-time process control in petrochemical manufacturing plants.
Manage a complex Cisco based network infrastructure used to provide a L1, L2 & L3 process control architecture.
Manage network interfaces with other systems in the manufacturing environment. Examples include Matrikon OPC Servers, ABB Vistanet, Triconex and Modicon programmable logic controllers.
Manage a Microsoft Windows Active Directory providing account management, file, print & application services.
Be the first point of contact for system problem resolution, and you will plan and implement a system management program to ensure continued high reliability and security of the system.
Assist in the mentoring of less experienced systems engineers to foster their development.
Engage in technical communications with your peers at other ExxonMobil manufacturing sites and technology centres to identify and advance common systems solutions.
Develop infrastructure software, e.g., utility programs, or systems integration services built upon the application program interfaces of in-house and commercially-developed software.
Develop, implement, and administer management of change, security & controls and disaster recovery procedures for all aspects of the process control systems environment.
Support process control applications engineers who are writing codes or configuring intrinsic system functionality to regulate or monitor the manufacturing process or to provide information to technicians, engineers, other manufacturing support staff, and management personnel.
Qualifications / experience requirements
A degree in Engineering; Electrical or Computer Engineering degrees are preferred, but equivalent experience and membership of the appropriate professional body may also be acceptable.
At least 5 years of hands-on experience with control systems, preferably Honeywell and PHD Process Historian systems.
Experience with computer programming, administration and maintenance of Microsoft Windows networks, and must be familiar with the concepts, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of networks.
Able to speak and write concisely and persuasively; interact effectively with peers, across organizational lines, and in diverse teams; and demonstrate good business judgment, results orientation, leadership, and creativity.
Experience with Local- and Wide-Area Networking technologies based on TCP/IP protocols.
