Cryogenics Technician
As a Cryogenics Technician, you will be expected to manage and operate the Cryogenics Laboratory and to provide technical hands-on assistance on all projects requiring cryogenics and vacuum experience.
The ideal candidate will be educated to HNC or HND in Engineering - (or have served a recognised apprenticeship), although consideration will be given to unqualified candidates who can demonstrate exceptional relevant experience. You should also be familiar with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel). You should also be able to demonstrate that you have experience in all of the duties and responsibilities detailed below:
- Operation & maintenance of vacuum pumps, helium leak detectors, ultrasonic cleaning baths, cryocooler coldheads. - General vacuum-related operations (e.g. ultrasonic cleaning of components and vessels, application of superinsulation, pumping out vessels). - General cryogenics operations (e.g. handling and transferring liquid cryogens, pump and flush operations). - Management of the Cryogenics Laboratory i.e. consumables, equipment, risk assessment of work going on within the laboratory. - Working within a project team on projects which involve the use of vacuum and cryogenics.
- Responsible for all cryogenic & vacuum related activities within the Cryogenics Lab. - Responsible for carrying out risk assessments within the Cryogenics Laboratory and on all projects within the factory that utilise cryogenics and vacuum technologies.
