Costing & Pricing Officer - A position exists within the Commercial Costing and Pricing function of this leading defence organisation for a Costing and Pricing Officer to provide cost and price modelling support to the Support Programmes business unit.
The role will be based in Shropshire and is commutable from Wolverhampton, Kidderminster, Shrewsbury and Whitchurch.
Key responsibility areas:
Reporting to the Support Programme Costing and Pricing Manager the successful candidate will be capable of preparing cost and price models in response to customer tenders and enquiries.
The Costing & Pricing Officer will be qualified to degree or HND/HNC equivalent level in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience demonstrated by tangible achievements. Cost engineering/commercial experience on defence contracts with strong technical understanding of estimating techniques and cost engineering interface with internal functions. Knowledge and experience of CADMID and the ILS process and knowledge of the IT Systems and Process requirements within the Land Systems business. Ability to work under pressure, with extremely quick turnarounds times and being flexible in order to meet the constraints business.
Responsibilities:
Understand and interpret user requirements and data inputs. Liaison with other departments and functions to obtain information and data necessary to produce robust cost and price models. Challenge, verify and justify all inputs into estimates. Produce 3 point cost estimates for our submission based on inputs including (but not restricted to) resources, sub-contract, customer/user. From that 3 point estimate use Monte Carlo analysis tools to produce probabilistic analysis that will facilitate the cost being converted into a price, including Target Cost Incentive Fee methods when required. Understand and identify project risk areas and ensure appropriate levels of cover are included in the price model for the contract.

Review and challenge as appropriate. Ensure that there is alignment between the Risk Register values and PREDICT output values.
Produce various output options on target cost/maximum price to determine customer value for money prices. Have the ability to analyse, critique and challenge both the Customers (BVB - Best Value Benchmark) and Land Systems as is process costs. Work within the LCM process, BMS and end to end costing and pricing process, producing all required documentation and RBA inputs. Provide the justification of cost build to PFG during audit when required. Support the price/contract negotiation.
Project specific duties:
Responsible for cost and pricing effort/activity for the Support Programmes business unit. This comprises of all cost/pricing modelling and all pricing/finance aspects of the Request for Bid Approval documentation for Commercial Tender Vet and Phase Review. Reviewing all the commercial/pricing aspects of contract modifications/new contracts prior to formal acceptance, execution or award; thus, working closely with the respective Commercial and Project Management teams. Providing direct cost/pricing services to other functions within Land Systems, such as Sales & Marketing, Projects, ILS, Finance and Supply Chain Management.
