Program Manager - Cost

An exciting opportunity exists to join the major aerospace client as a Program Manager, working with the first line organisations and their direct reports to create, drive and influence cost reduction initiatives. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to influence commodities to deliver world-class components at a world-class cost.

To fulfil this role you will need to:-
• Lead teams for specific key cost reduction initiatives.
• Build strong working relationships with cross-functional teams.
• Communicate cost status and plans to customers
• Work within the business to implement cost reduction
• Facilitate cost reduction events.
• Support financial planning.

The major focus for the 12 month project will be to drive, manage and control the cost requirements for 2 of the major flagship' new product programmes

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate achievement in program management.

The ideal candidate will have working knowledge/awareness in design or manufacturing and should be commercially astute.

The candidate should be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and have working knowledge of dealing with internal customers at all levels throughout an organisation and will need to be able to demonstrate the following:

• Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
• Self starter, able to determine, plan and prioritise workload as necessary to achieve targets
• A passion to challenge convention and seek alternative solutions to complex problems
• A good understanding of the commercial aspects of the business including product cost drivers

The ability and drive to overcome obstacles to progress through influencing and innovative thinking.

Knowledge of SAP product costing processes is desirable.
Purchasing (commercial) experience would be an advantage.
Product awareness (gas turbine components) would be an advantage.
IT literacy (MS Excel, MS Project etc)

Some working knowledge of manufacturing, product design and supply chain management is required, however, passion and commitment are more important than depth of knowledge. Preferred experience in volume mass production industries (eg Aerospace, Automotive) .
