Brief job description
To provide support to Manufacturing Application team to drive manufacturing technology packages to deliver cost reduction. This will mainly involve working with an outside suppliers and purchasing to evaluate the use of flow forming for the Clients components.

Projects
1748 hours.

•Flow Forming:
Flow forming is a forming process that is used to form near net shape geometries for the manufacture of cylindrical components such as shafts. A wide capability for this technology exists outside of the client and a person is needed to support the flow forming strategy IPT and work up the business case and subsequent technologies.

The task will involve:
oRegularly liaise with outside with Purchasing and outside suppliers to build a database of suppliers capability.
oPut business case together to justify funding of activities through established review process, i.e. CRAB1
oRegularly work with IPT members to understand leading suppliers and validation package
oDefine component commodities that would most benefit form flow forming technology

Deliverables
1/ Recommend parts from one of the Engines bill of material that will most benefit from flow forming and develop an initial business case to gain CRAB funding.
Timescale: 1 Month

2/ Construction of database of supplier capability and assessment of component commodity that will most benefit form flow forming.
Timescale: 3 months

3/ Engage with IPT and recommended supplier to establish technical package to validate change for one family grouping of components
Timescale: 6 months


4/ Routinely support the ITP to carry out technical validation package and activities required to approve preferred supplier.
Timescale: 12 months


Skills required: The role requires energy and drive with an engineering degree. A grounding in a manufacturing environment and previous involvement in forming operations will be an advantage. Programme management skills and driving activities to plan will be required. Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills (at all levels). Must be a self-starter and be able to work with little supervision. Should be computer literate with a good understanding of MS Word, Excel and Project.
