CONTRACT - UNTIL END OF YEAR & BEYOND
PAY RATE - £30ph Ltd
LOCATION - Bristol, Filton, South, South West

The job description is aimed at providing short term engineering support to the A400M Fluid Mechanical Fuel Systems Test Rig programme in the guise of two control and instrumentation engineers. Activities will primarily involve assistance for the implementation phase of the project, but will also include some elements of detailed design, documentation, fault diagnosis and commissioning. The successful candidates will also be responsible for interfacing these systems into the Fuel Systems Test Facility control and power distribution equipment.

The candidates will be required to deploy an in depth understanding of fluid mechanical instrumentation technologies associated with the requirement test rig measurement parameters, e.g. fluid flow, pressure, temperature and level. In parallel with this, ac/dc power distribution systems are required for various items of rig and aircraft electrical equipment. To achieve the project aims, the candidates will have access to a small team of qualified technicians under the control of the A400M Instrumentation Engineer. A ability to produce TCL/TK routines would also be considered an advantage.

All activities will be carried out under the auspices of DSEAR/ATEX regulations, and consequently require development of adequate documentation to provide full design/implementation traceability, as well as for config control.

Tasks to be carried out.

•Identify and incorporate any necessary design features as a result of compliance with DSEAR/ATEX regulations.
•Be able to interpret both aircraft fuel systems and electrical wiring drawings.
•Be able to develop, analyse and amend electrical/instrumentation drawings.
•Liaise with Technical Specialists and Fluid Test Engineers on instrumentation system, wiring harnesses installation and control system interfacing issues.
•Consult with potential suppliers and obtain relevant technical data required for system design development.
•Produce a bill of materials for and arrange procurement or required equipment and consumables.
•Maintain records of system design, equipment specifications etc.
•Be able to fault find from first principles down to component level.
•Use both mechanical and electrical laboratory test equipment.
•Be customer focussed and achieve project objectives and milestones.
•Must be prepared to be involved in extended working, when necessary, to achieve project timelines.
