They are currently looking to recruit a Senior Buyer / Purchasing Manager to join the team in York, North Yorkshire.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* To ensure that the best practicable price is obtained for subcontract requirements with due regard to quality performance and prevailing market conditions.
* To ensure that the goods and services are of acceptable standards and to agreed specifications.
* Be familiar with legal aspects of subcontracting and apply this knowledge to good effect in dealing with contractual arrangements.
* Have good product knowledge and be conversant with its application in building projects.
* Be conversant with the subcontract trades related to his area of spend including the monitoring and researching potential new subcontractors.
* Develop the use of partnership principles with key subcontractors incorporating standard scopes of works and subcontractor KPIs.
* Required to visit subcontractors and potential subcontractors both at their own premises and on construction sites.
* Have authority to sign subcontract agreements within the scope of their responsibilities.
NATURE & SCOPE:
* The subcontract activity controls a spend in the region of £12m per annum and involves the subcontract of on site construction requirements.
* Experience in the Construction / Building industry is essential
* The job holder shall have a professional approach to purchasing and will be a Member of the Institute of Purchasing and Supply and must be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
* The Senior Buyer will be expected to keep abreast of all applicable relevant contractual, legal and commercial requirements.
