Communications Validation Engineer
Main Mission
To provide communications systems expertise to support payload and spacecraft AIT campaigns.
Carry out RF systems validation engineering tasks on commercial communications payload projects, providing communications systems expertise to support payload and spacecraft AIT campaigns.
The tasks will include flow down of validation/ test requirements to payload unit suppliers, review of supplier test documentation and test results achieved, planning and review of all payload test phases, provision of guidance and clarification to UK and French AIT staff including hands on support in the clean room, support to NRB s/ disposition of anomalous results, liaison with customer representatives, preparation and attendance at test reviews and preparation of test reports.
Occasional overseas travel will be required.
Main Tasks
1) Assigned to a major project, to pro-actively support the payload, satellite and AIT engineering teams to ensure the completion of all communications activities relating to the communications payload in a cost effective and timely manner.
2) To support project and payload engineering planning and review meetings as required.
3) In conjunction with procurement and systems engineering teams, to flow down validation/ test requirements to payload unit suppliers, to review supplier test documentation prior to testing and to review test results achieved.
4) To prepare comprehensive test plan and test requirement documents for each phase of payload testing.
5) To define the payload configurations to be used for each payload test/ test phase.
6) To provide hands on support in the clean room to assist with pre rf test set up and de-bug activities. Provide guidance and clarification to AIT staff if applicable.
7) To actively contribute to the review of payload test results, disposition of anomalous results and test report preparation for each phase of the AIT campaign.
8) To ensure that all required tests are completed in accordance with approved test plans and ensure completion of all validation and verification activities necessary for test report completion.
9) To actively support NRB s with a view to expedient resolution of major anomalies.
10) To adopt a flexible approach to working consistent with the needs of the projects (e.g shift patterns, weekend working, overtime etc.)
11) To ensure regular communications with payload operations for planning/ preparation of in orbit tests.
12) To use experience gained and lessons learned to feed back in the context of continuous improvement initiatives.
13) To ensure full familiarisation with, and understanding of, rf design, analysis and trending tools as necessary to perform objectives.
14) To provide active support at major reviews (e.g. PDR, CDR, TRR s and TRB s) as necessary.
15) To occasionally support preparation of the validation elements of proposals.
Successful candidates will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment.
