Commodity Buyer . Location Milton Keynes . Salary £25 - £30,000



Main Purpose of Job:

To continuously monitor the global market place, to select ethical / stable suppliers who can assist in technically developing the company's products, whilst providing the specification ordered, delivered on time, at the lowest overall cost to the company, in line with the companies purchasing strategy.

Main Tasks Of Job:

Maintain and develop the materials control and purchasing aspects / information on the companies manufacturing software system.

Parts cost variation to continually be equal to or less than the previous invoice value overall for goods and services purchased. Payment terms to be maximised (e.g. 180 days).

Procure to maintain a minimum of one weeks stock, up to a maximum of six weeks stock for all A and B classification parts, and 12 weeks stock for C class parts (through weekly delivery rolling schedules and supplier stock holding).

Key component -

dual sourcing / quotation - 70/30. Overall reduced supplier base for each commodity type.

Delivery performance / progress chasing.

Costing -

Competitive tendering, or open book where single sourced. Make versus buy projects on all sub assembly and non final assembly operations.

Cost down projects / continuous improvement through supplier applications support, advanced technology, packaging, direct to line delivery etc.

Controlling invoice queries.

Supplier audits, commercial assessment, and quality defect damage claims to be controlled.
