Description

Responsible for the commercial co-ordination of all major production projects in the workshop, thus providing strategic support to Technology Services, Generation and Renewable.

Under the direction of the Production Manager you will manage the flow of contracts into the team, and oversee the commercial management of external subcontracts. Ensure due process in offer and acceptance whilst mitigating commercial risk. Maintain cost tracking sheets and IFC forecasts for all major Production projects.
Co-ordinate and work with Site Projects management staff to ensure the commercial delivery of projects are aligned to TSG outage commercial strategies. i.e. in preparation of variations, and realisation of global TSG major project cash flow and risk mitigations, through co-ordinated customer management
Work closely with Business Development staff to actively promote and manage customers commercial expectations. Ensure contracts are real and comply with commercial procedures prior to initiating work
To take an active role as a Production management team member in promoting high levels of Health and Safety awareness in the workshop and on site as relevant.
Ensure the High Quality standards are maintained in the acceptance and management of contracts and variations. Ensure all activities comply with the requirements of ISO9001.
Provide accurate information and liaise with the Production Planning Co-ordinator to ensure all activities (and the section as a whole) are working on the priorities dictated by the current and forward plans
As directed by the Production Manager prepare commercial reports take an active role in commercial strategic planning.
Project Manage, as directed by the Production Manager capital expenditure projects to time quality and cost in accordance with capital expenditure procedures.

Principal Accountabilities:

•Actively promote a safety culture within the Production & Site Machining teams
•Ensure activities in the section comply with ISO9001 and in-house procedures and systems.
•Promote a culture of continuous improvement
•Update cost tracking on all major projects, provide guidance and support to Section Heads and Production Engineers in the preparation and monitoring of other cost tracking sheets and commercial compliance.
•Work closely with the Production Manager in developing and implementing projects to reduce Productions operating costs, without compromising income, safety and quality
•Co-ordinate with Procurement and Section heads to ensure purchasing activities are cost effective and deliver continuous savings.
•Liaise with Business Developers to ensure customers fully understand and agree the requirements for workshop projects, prior and post contract
•Provide management reports as requested by the Production Manager in an accurate and timely manner.
•Ensure information for planning purposes is provided to the Production Planning Co-ordinator as requested in a timely and accurate manner.
•Apply commercial acumen to all contracts and projects within the section to maximise income and profitability
•Ensure commercial risks are mitigated at all times
•Take an active role in supporting the Production Manager in the Personal Development Plans and succession plans for all staff in the team.
•Support the Planning Co-ordinator in the workshop forward schedule and identify areas of risk and cost saving
•Ensure team compliance with client commercial requirements of all projects
•Deputising for Production Manager in his absence
•Senior Member of the Production Management team with specific responsibilities for commercial management of major projects
Person Specification:

•Suitable qualifications in Business Studies/ Management Studies would be desirable (or equivalent)
•A knowledge in refurbishment of heavy rotating power plant machinery
•A knowledge of heavy engineering workshop and site machining techniques
•Working knowledge of contract structures, basic understanding of conditions of contracts and commercial awareness
•Working knowledge of CNC, CAD and CAM
•IOSH Working Safely (or equivalent)
