The role
Working for one of the UK's leading defence companies the Commercial Manager will provide contractual and commercial advice . The Commercial Manager will be expected to support the Commercial Director at any stage of the opportunity / project cycle, including bidding, execution and remedial work.
Being part of a small commercial team the Commercial Manager will deal with the divisional project teams, external customers and subcontractors, and will, duly supported, be responsible for the commercial integrity of all aspects of the contracting arrangements.
An excellent development opportunity, the role will include input into the development and implementation of Divisional commercial strategy, including the transformation of behaviours and cultures in a Division frequently breaking new ground in terms of markets and services.
The commercial team is heavily integrated into the Divisional sales and project teams and works to structure, negotiate and close compelling customer deals to both MoD and Civil markets.
The role will involve frequent input and support into pan company bidding activities. Working closely with other functions (IP, Legal, Insurance, Risk, Bids, Contracts) to manage these aspects of the project, opportunity or bid, and provide assistance and advice when required. Drafts, negotiates and manages NDAs, MoUs and Teaming Agreements.
Some UK travel will be required as interface with customers is an essential part of the role.
Key Job Accountabilities
Provides comprehensive support and advice on contractual and commercial matters relevant to all EMEA Market areas e.g. UK MoD, US, Europe.
Drafts, negotiates and manages NDAs, MoUs, Teaming Agreements, TAAs and Shareholder Agreements.
Communicates EMEA policy, guidance and awareness, ensuring best practice and consistency
Works to achieve an advantageous risk/reward balance
Manage the post contract process, ensuring continued customer satisfaction
Essential competencies (i.e. knowledge, skills, behaviours) for role
A proven track record of structuring, negotiating and closing deals.
A significant record of commercial management including UK MoD Defence experience
Track record of operating effectively at a senior level
Previous experience of providing relevant advice on all commercial aspects of transactions and agreements
Used to managing NDAs, TAAs, ITARs, Teaming Agreements, MoUs and shareholder agreements
Used to working with financial information and is aware of financial impacts on bids/contracts/projects
Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation and with external customers both orally and in writing
Able to influence senior colleagues and peers to optimise the quality of the Divisional order book.
Proactive and responsive to customer/team needs
Able to quickly build good working relationships with internal and external customers
Deliver own tasks to time quality and cost
Hold a UK driving, and be willing to travel as required by the demands of the post.
