Thames Water are looking to recruit a Commercial Manager who will provide overall leadership and management of cost and planning and commercial team supporting Waste Capital Delivery.
One of the key elements of the Commercial Manager role will be supporting project delivery which has the opportunity to shape the delivery of the cost and planning service to projects, also the responsibility to improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of the commercial and programme support to projects on a £300m capital programme.
The role will involve:
•To lead and manage project delivery team of cost and planners, commercial and QS resource.
•To ensure effective commercial systems and controls are established, maintained and used across all projects
•To provide estimating and cost management service to projects
•To provide planning service to projects
•To review and improve effectiveness and efficiency of commercial and planning support to projects
•To exploit commercial out-performance opportunities
•To manage team within agreed budget
•To provide commercial input to PR09 submission and OFWAT reporting
•To ensure commercial strategy and data capture supports PR09
•To review and maintain commercial project data and ensure liaison with capital delivery team
•To provide appropriate level and skilled resource for project execution
To manage day to day relationship and performance with commercial service providers to project delivery.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
•Previous commercial management experience, ideally within the water industry
•Commercial management experience within the construction industry
•Ability to lead teams and manage individuals.
•Capacity to challenge suppliers and service providers
•Ideally candidates will have an understanding of the regulatory framework
•Excellent negotiator
•Broad awareness and competence in capital programme systems
