Our leading global client is looking for a career minded individual to join their engineering team
Purpose of Job
Provide first-line trouble shooting and consulting for the maintenance and operation of Refinery, Chemical Plant and Storage Terminal Facilities in Europe and the Middle East. Provide technical support to capital projects for new facilities and revamps.
Provide technical support for the design and operation of marine terminal facilities in the region.
Principal Accountabilities
The role is split to provide technical consulting and technical support for projects.
The consulting element of the role encompasses handling and problem-solving relating to all civil engineering matters that arise on affiliate refineries and chemical plants across the region. As a result the remit is broad. The technical challenges include, plant structures, pipe racks, sewers, roads, chimneys, buildings, marine terminals, tanks, etc.
Project work includes participation in the technical development of projects and proving technical support during design and construction. Although not carrying out the detailed design the role involves working closely with design / EPC contractors include detailed design reviews.
Whilst being part of the small civil / marine engineering team in the UK there is also a close working relationship with the Corporate Civil Engineering Team in Virginia, USA.
Skills, Experience and Personal Attributes:
A good degree in civil engineering degree
Post graduate experience in civil engineering design / consulting in the process industries.
Site experience of construction and/or maintenance would be beneficial.
Chartered / Near Chartered Engineer MICE or / MIStructE
Familiarity with process plant equipment support structures, infrastructure, blast-resistant buildings and assessment of existing structures is desirable.
Some knowledge and experience of marine terminal / port and harbour works is very desirable as, over time, marine terminal engineering is expected to form a significant part of the role. Training will be provided to develop capabilities in this area.
Good IT skills.
Capable of defining, leading and delivering own assignments.
Capable of working with people at all levels in contractor, refinery and chemical plant organizations.
Willing to travel overseas on frequent short assignments (up to approx 50%).
The successful candidate will be looking to join a major petroleum, multi-national and will possess the drive and broad range of technical, personal effectiveness and leadership skills required to progress a professional based engineering career leading ultimately to global senior technical leadership positions.
