The Control and Electronics group numbers over 150 across the globe and has experienced rapid growth over the last 10 years. The Powertrain Control and Applications department is currently responding to an increase in work driven by the tightening emissions regulations both in Europe and the US markets.

Our client is a world leading Automotive Engineering Consultancy working for many major OEMs in the passenger car and commercial vehicle markets. The Control and Electronics group numbers over 150 across the globe and has experienced rapid growth over the last 10 years. The Powertrain Control and Applications department is currently responding to an increase in work driven by the tightening emissions regulations both in Europe and the US markets.
As a result, they now seek a Chief Engineer to join their existing team of 25 engineers based at their Technical Centre in Shoreham-by-Sea.
This role offers a great opportunity to work on and own a wide variety of projects using cutting edge technology. Primarily you will be responsible for leading teams of engineers to develop engine control systems for future Diesel applications, in particular OBD systems.
Your everyday tasks will include the provision of technical leadership of development projects, managing teams of engineers, specification of OBD systems and strategies, control algorithm development, rapid prototyping of control systems and implementation on testbed and vehicles.
The ideal candidate will be qualified to degree level in an Engineering discipline with an emphasis on Control Systems, be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of advanced control systems and will have designed and developed a major control strategy. Proven people management and project management skills are also a must.
Expert knowledge of the Emissions and OBD legislation and/or aftertreatment development experience would be a distinct advantage, as would be experience of developing software to industry standard quality procedures. Exposure to customer proposal preparation and management of the client relationship would also be desirable.
